Volunteering Opportunity Health in Mind's 're:discover Borders'

health in mindHealth in Mind's re:discover befriending services help people to take the first steps towards meeting new people, rediscovering old hobbies and developing new interests and connections.

re:discover befriending offers 6-month matches and it is currently available to anyone feeling isolated due to experiencing mental ill health and living in the Scottish Borders.

A volunteer will:

• Build the person's confidence and self-esteem
• Provide more opportunities for social contact
• Support them in building relationships with others
• Encourage them to take part in local activities or groups
• Help them to pick up old hobbies and interests and discover new ones

They are looking for a minimum commitment of 6 months from the befriending volunteers, offering excellent training, out of pocket expenses and an opportunity to make a real difference.

If you are interested in this opportunity Health in Mind are holding an induction training session on Tuesday 30th January 2018 10am-2pm in Duns Volunteer Hall. The purpose of this training is to help you find out more about re:discover and the role of a befriending volunteer. By the end you should know if the service feels like a good fit for you.
