During the Coronavirus pandemic people may be more likely to experience poor mental wellbeing related to self isolation or anxiety about exposure to or the effects of Coronavirus.

NHS Borders Wellbeing Service are offering additional support to people struggling with their emotional wellbeing at this time. From 20th April 2020, your GP practice can refer you for a short Psychological First Aid appointment which can help to:

  • Manage stress and worry
  • Help you relax and sleep
  • Improve your emotional wellbeing
  • Improve low mood

These appointments will be conducted via telephone and will last up to 30 minutes.

People can still self refer to the Wellbeing Service for support with smoking cessation and mental wellbeing. The Wellbeing Service is not currently able to support people with managing weight and to get more active. Referrals for weight loss are passed to Dietetics but please note there is a waiting list in Dietetics. The Wellbeing Service will resume its normal service as soon as possible.
