YouthBorders is seeking new volunteer Trustees to take this dynamic and award winning youth work charity into its next phase. So, whatever your skills and background, if you are interested in helping to improve opportunities for children and young people and becoming involved in a wide ranging and innovative Scottish Borders charity, please get in touch.
About the organisation:
YouthBorders is the membership organisation and network of third sector youth organisations in the Scottish Borders. They facilitate the work of our member youth groups through training, insurance, cross Borders projects, strategic representation and other support. They are the voice of youth work and young people in the Borders and their over-arching aim is to create alternative environments where young people can thrive.
Youth Borders' membership (35 members representing over 65 youth groups) includes youth clubs, youth cafes, information projects, specialist projects, mentoring and befriending projects, after school clubs and church groups. The membership is growing and reaches over 4,000 children and young people, covering the whole of the Scottish Borders from Eyemouth to West Linton, Oxton to Newcastleton. They work closely with partners and stakeholders to put across the views of young people and our varied membership and facilitate the work they do.
The Board is now looking to recruit new Trustees who:
• Are interested in making a difference to the lives of children and young people
• Are enthusiastic to join an active team of Trustees
• Want to give something back to their communities and learn from others
• Have varied skills and backgrounds
• Want to get involved in developing strategy, plans and opportunities for our members and young people
• Want to be part of the next phase of this best practice charity
The Board meets for a couple of hours, 9 times a year, with an AGM in October, and meets in different parts of the Borders or at YouthBorders offices in Langlee, Galashiels. A strategy away day is held once a year and there is a varied training calendar made available to Trustees.
The Board is also looking for a new Treasurer so if you have particular skills in this department either as an accountant or with accountancy/business experience then they would very much like to hear from you.
